Irrigation Through The Seasons

Spring

Spring

IRRIGATE ACCORDING TO NATURE

When spring comes, you need to ensure that the garden is frequently watered, though much
depends on the current weather conditions: if the sky is overcast, the garden can be watered any time of the day; but if it is sunny, you’ll need to water early in the morning or at sunset. In this way water won’t evaporate before it is absorbed by the soil and taken up by plant roots. You should also remember to mow the lawn frequently (every 8-10 days) and to water it often (every 2-3 days), particularly important if rainfall is insufficient to guarantee an optimal degree of soil humidity
Summer

Summer

PROGRAM IDEAL IRRIGATION CYCLES

During the warmest months of the year, the lawn should be watered twice to three times a week, with a quantity of water sufficient to moisten 15-20 centimetres of soil. It is best to do the watering at night, so that water has time to penetrate the soil before it evaporates. Summer is in fact the season during which your garden requires most attention, but it is also the time of year that many (but not all) ask the inevitable question: "who’s going to do the watering when I’m away on holiday?". A Claber irrigation system, fitted with an electronic water timer, is the ideal solution for even, scientific watering cycles at the best time of day – while you’re enjoying your justly-deserved vacation

TIME FOR CLEANING UP

Continue watering your lawns regularly, though a little less often than during the summer. Take the opportunity to rake up fallen leaves and branches, as well as to eliminate any pests stunting plant and grass growth.

It might also be a good idea to sprinkle some natural organic fertiliser, which will feed the lawn throughout the season as it gradually releases its nutritional substances.
Winter

Winter

A SYSTEM PROTECTED AGAINST FROST

During the winter season, the lawn and deciduous plants don’t require frequent watering; this is in fact the time for the irrigation system to rest. The underground tubes are unaffected by winter frost, thanks to the insulating effect afforded by the layer of soil above them, as well as the fact that the draining valves eliminate all water remaining inside the tubes. The mains water supply to the system should in any case be shut off, and water timers removed from garden taps and stored inside. Remember also to remove the battery and (even if it is not already completely run down) throw it in the appropriate waste container. Unused batteries in fact run down in a few months; for this reason, it is best to fit brand-new batteries in water timers at the beginning of each new season.
